Phoenix to perth
I'm thrilled to announce an incredible collaboration that's taking my art halfway around the world. Australian artist Angus Watkins has invited me to Perth for a groundbreaking artistic event that represents everything I believe in – independent artists taking control of their own narrative.
This journey began in Brooklyn, where I met Angus through my dear friend T.K. Mills, editor-in-chief of UP Mag, a street art magazine based in NYC. T.K. had interviewed both Cal and Angus, and when we all connected, something clicked immediately. Angus and I stayed in touch after that Brooklyn meeting, and we started planning our own collaborative event.
Later, Cal reached out directly for a commission after following my work. When I explained that creating the piece in Australia would be more authentic and cost-effective, he didn't hesitate – he believed in the vision enough to invest upfront.
This collaboration represents a new model for how artists can work together globally. Instead of waiting for traditional galleries to validate or distribute our work, we're creating direct connections across continents. Angus has secured a villa for my stay and a studio space for creation – all I need is the return journey home.
What excites me most is how this partnership embodies the rebellious spirit of independent artmaking. We're proving that artists can build international networks, support each other's visions, and create meaningful work without institutional gatekeepers.
The Perth project will showcase trauma healing art in a completely new cultural context, exploring how personal transformation through creativity translates across different communities and landscapes. This isn't just about making art – it's about demonstrating that healing and creativity are universal languages.
